A Meme Quote:
It never hurts to ask for something you really want, but what
you get might be something more precious and desirable.

I originally wrote these seven stories for my seven grandchildren ages two through eleven. These were gifts for them that I spent many hours on
in the evenings and into the early morning hours hoping to have them ready for Christmas. I made it! But through the haze I managed to mis-spell
one of my grand children's names! Well, I was forgiven.
Thank goodness!

I actually had no idea that I would spend literally 70 plus hours on a computer getting these simple little gifts together. They turned into a rather
large project that I was determined to finish. As I stumbled into work each day with copies in hand of what I had written the previous evening, I
would accost my co-workers and have all of them read what I had,  and give me any changes they thought should be made. You know,
Spell Check
is just not perfect!

Then after returning home, I would take the pages to my neighbor and best friend for her input. Bless them all, they continued to put up with me for
weeks as I continued to be consumed by the desire to give my grandchildren something I thought would be very special to them. And after they
were completed and I had printed the pages, cut and pasted them, ( we're talking Real paste and scissors here! ),  put all the little sticky Christmas
decals and Cat decals in them that I could get my hands on, as well as a ton of colored glitter glue, I had them in their very own mini spiral
notebooks. With great care I wrapped each one, ( I am the world's worst wrapper! ), and finally sighed with Great relief and Pride.

After the gifts were opened, my daughters, Bless them, decided that the gifts were too special for the kids to be playing with, and put them away
for future keepsakes! What is a grandmother to do?...

I decided that all the good praise from friends and co-workers should be put to the
test. I have decided to try to have the books published as one series of short stories.
And to my amazement, there were several interested publishers out there!

                         And Now...

"Meme's Christmas Stories" Is In Print!
Christmas Is Just Around the bend...

Very soon the rush to do Christmas shopping will once again be upon us.
Whom to buy what for?

I have found that my own grandchildren prefer the simple things. I have watched them open some wonderful and very expensive items. Then have
seen them turn around and play with the boxes, ribbons and bows, and the least expensive toy in the whole pile of gifts! They beg for stuff, but
once they have it...what a waste of money! It really is like throwing money away!

Christmas is a time for being together, whether with family, friends or a room full of strangers. Simple gifts from the heart can mean a lifetime of
special memories for all of us that are blessed with them.

I love to give my grandchildren books that help them keep their imaginations going strong, and keep them thinking! A child that can read, and
learns to love it at an early age, will continue to read, learn and take charge of their own lives in a more productive way.

I love to eat, as do my grandchildren, but we also
all need food for thought!

I hope that all of you are looking forward to this Christmas, and that you have
the most wonderful Christmas of your lives this December 25, 2009.

How Meme's Christmas Stories Began...
Meme's Christmas Stories is a book of seven delightful children's stories.  Each child has something special they want to do for someone or something
very special they want for themselves. Children are people too and their ideas of how things should be, and their innocent gifts and faith in life will
bring heartfelt tears to your eyes. Each character is named after a real person, but the stories of course are woven out of delightful fiction! Each story
has a lesson in life for each child and their family. It is filled with miracles, magic and faith.  With each of these tales a child learns that some-times we
get what we wish for most, but often get that which we need. But most important; that it is better to give than to receive.
Kids do say some amazing things. And if we listen we might learn that life could be
a little easier on us, or we on ourselves.
